Well after all these almost 30 years, one of the most popular video formats, finally disappeared. The last store of VHS cassettes delivered their last shipment. This company sold the cassettes in a very low price, is true that modern movies formats are most excited and the image quality is awesome. but see movies in VHS has some regards of the old times, like the use of LP´s.
Well in each case every person has an opinion, the question is how many time the DVD will be with us....???
Blue Ray, Digital Tv and many other new sources of digital video entertaiment are now show themselves....
Is matter of time...

SQL Server 2005 SP3
These are the facts...
Many years ago, Microsoft introduces a new error, feedback and customer support system in all new products like Visual Studio, Office, SQL Server, etc.
Microsoft Connect another system that allows the technical users to share their experience with the product manager of Windows as sample, and give technical feedback, with the only purpose to get the product better.
Is for these reasons that Microsoft products are now better than ever, and the relationship with the customer is more friendly.
SQL Server 2005 SP3 now is available and solves many errors reported through the customer feedback platforms. The team product focus in solve issues on Database Engine, Notification Services, Replication, Reporting Services, and other cumulative updates.

Reporting Services 2008 no longer depends of IIS
Well...
During the last month, I've worked on and ERP project as one of the main consultants. As result of it, I encounter a lot of things that really don't expect. Ok, I have to be honest, really surprise me.
My rol in the development team of my enterprise is mixed, sometimes developer, sometimes architect, sometimes DBA, sometimes QA, etc.
As result of my mixed roles I had wok with reporting services, but in the ERP project suggest to migrate reporting services from 2005 to 2008 in order to manage one IDE.
The two things are:
During the last month, I've worked on and ERP project as one of the main consultants. As result of it, I encounter a lot of things that really don't expect. Ok, I have to be honest, really surprise me.

- First one, like the post title says: Reporting services is no longer depends on IIS,
- Second one, Visual Studio 2008 can't manage SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Projects. Is necessary to install the SQL Server 2008 Client Tools for open and migrate the projects.
The migration process is simple, but the deployment is a little bit more hard. In a future post describe the deployment and new Reporting Services model.

Google Chrome Pre-installed on new machines...?
Well...
Every person or computers user installed programs according profession, school, or simply a gamer. One of the most used programs is our Internet browser, this could be IE, Opera, Safari, FireFox and Chrome (The order not necessary reflects my preference...:P).
In the first days of the Internet, the top browser was Netscape Navigator, some of you probably not remember but in Netscape version 3 to 4, enhances some features of the recent born IE 3 to 4.
But many years later IE overcome the other browser, with new, but not better (in some cases) versions of IE, like 5, 5.5, 6.0 and 7.
The key to this "excellence" was...IE is pre-installed on every copy of Windows around the world, during the last 10 years; some experts share this opinion, others not.
The true thing is that Google wants to probe the same strategy, that worked for Microsoft during this years. When the beta period of Chrome ends in January of 2009, Google will search companies for OEM agreements for distribute Chrome.
IE8 will finally released on the first part of the next year, probably is a good time to attack IE...?
I think that Google is taking a good strategy, but other browsers are on the way too...

IE8 Final Release Date
During the last months Microsoft is being working so hard in the new IE8, in many sites Microsoft recommends the use of the new version of the IE against IE7. However the company is not ready to publish the final version at the end of this year.
Surely we'll see one more release before the final version is ready. Some questions about this:
1. Is IE8 part of Windows 7 ?
2. Is IE8 a mandatory update or a separate package like IE7.

SQL Server Kilimanjaro
Since the firts versions of SQL Server as a Microsoft product (Remember: SQL Server originally was developed by Sybase), every new feature was oriented to a specific area, SQL Server 2000 with DataBase Services, Reporting and Analysis Services, this three features was totally improved in SQL Server 2005, where the BI tools (Analysis Services and Integration Services), those give to the motor a new face, that can be resume in reliable and efficient.
SQL Server 2008 improve the tools in a new scale combine with Server 2008 features and its own, like Reporting Services no longer depends on IIS, more tools for performance & failover, CLR enhacements, etc.
But the BI from the Enterprise view is a really important analysis focus, information and data, now are the base of every organization it have to be safe and assure availability.
Is for that reason that SQL Server "Kilimanjaro" the code name for the new realease of the
product, focus on self-service reporting and analysis services. the last one coded named "Project Gemini"

RSS Feeds in Outlook 2003
Well...
Almost a year ago I adopt Office 2007, after using Office 2003 during the last 5 years including beta versions. It's normal to read my feeds (thousands of then :P) from Outlook 2007, but recently I had to use my old and reliable virtual machine with Windows 2000, Office 2003, Visual Studio .NET 2003, yes you read well Visual Studio .NET 2003, to review an application for some enhancements.
So, I tried to open my feeds from an exported file, and surprise Outlook 2003 can't read it.
Nooooo my feeds...what I gonna do without it...?
One simple search in google and my problem was solved. RSS Popper, if you use Outlook 2003, try it, is excellent.
The URL is: http://rsspopper.blogspot.com/, it works with Outlook 2000/XP/2003; Windows 2000/XP; .NET Framework 1.1.
Hope this helps someone like me, that use some older but reliable technology :P
